to be deconstructed
The Myelin is a helmet designed for all cyclists, especially with everyday use and commuting in mind. The ability to simply deconstruct the helmet is achieved thanks to an innovative design and construction.
Engineered to be deconstructed
The new Myelin finds its natural home in the urban environment. Developed for everyday use and the commute, the helmet is for everyone who chooses to cycle. Engineered to be deconstructed, the helmet's innovative design makes it easy for all the helmet's parts to be separated at the helmet's end of life.
The Myelin is our first helmet to be constructed using 50% recycled materials. Behind the helmet's clean look hides a host of advanced technical and design details that allow it to be separated into individual pieces at the end of its life. An innovative woven fabric shell, no adhesives, and an interlocking construction where each pieces holds the others in places are just some of the features that makes the Myelin easy to deconstruct at the end of its life.
We wanted to question the idea that safety and sustainability could not obviously co-exist in a helmet. As a protection company our first priority is the safety of our riders, but we also place on ourselves an obligation to use our planet's resources respectfully."Claes Nellestam, Senior Designer at POC
ENGINEERED TO BE DECONSTRUCTED
Simple fasteners and the outer fabric shell ties all pieces of the Myelin together, eliminating the need for adhesives or laminates. This makes it easy to separate all the pieces of the helmet from one another at the end of its life. Simply cutting the fasteners allows anyone to deconstruct the helmet, at home, without needing special tools.
