Developing trusted protection starts with identifying the most critical problems. It means asking the right questions and challenging conventional wisdom.

 

Problems are always related to improving your safety, and challenging accepted conventions related to fit, visibility and protection.

It involves sound research and collaboration with leaders in science, engineering, and medicine; experimentation with materials, shapes, and construction; incorporating the right technology partners; performing extensive laboratory tests and simulations; and validating the integrity of products on elite athletes in the most demanding high-performance environments.

WE TEST. AND TEST. AND TEST AGAIN.

We approach problems from different angles to arrive at new and better solutions. With POC Lab, our in-house research team, we perform our own research and analysis to determine how current accepted standards and norms could be improved for everyone’s safety. We bring elite cyclists into the laboratory to analyse bib chamois pad pressure distribution nuances. We collaborate with thought leaders on the POC Advisory Board and the safety experts at Volvo and Autoliv in our shared mission to protect lives. We test and iterate with Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis to learn more about a product's protective properties and to give designers the freedom to experiment with potential new avenues of development.

The limits and boundaries of sports are forever changing, and protection must keep up. So, we utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) testing, wind tunnels, and 3D scanning, as well as a host of other methods, to align safety with aerodynamic performance. We align with the right technology partners, like RECCO, Twiceme and Mips, to bring added levels of security.

Our methodical approach to design and engineering has led to the development of solutions that work in theory, though not always in practice. And this drives us to find new ways of overcoming the existing problems.

This is the approach that has led to the development of award-winning protection across bike and snow sports. It’s produced ground-breaking innovations and proprietary technologies like Clarity by POC, VPD by POC, and POCito. And it has earned the trust of the fastest skiers and cyclists in the world.
