POC Unveils Signature Auric Helmet and Fovea Goggles by Aaron Blunck.

Heading into his third full season with the U.S. Freeskiing Team, Olympian Aaron Blunck has signed an endorsement agreement with POC, a leading manufacturer of skiing and cycling helmets, apparel and accessories. The deal will see Blunck feature prominently among POC’s brand ambassadors with a signature series, which includes the new Auric helmet, Fovea goggles and Will sunglasses, launching in fall 2015. The Auric helmet and Fovea goggles are born out of years of experience and research, and are the result of our close collaboration with POC team athlete Aaron Blunck,” says Oscar Huss, Head of Product Development at POC. “To witness the progression in skiing and snowboarding is amazing, but with higher speeds, bigger jumps and more advanced rails we need to continue to develop reliable and safe products that meet the demands of our users.

The lightweight and highly ventilated Auric helmet
features a durable ABS shell and a multi-impact EPP liner, which is strategically thicker in the most exposed areas. The Auric provides increased protection for the ears and temples and is compatible for use with a beanie and goggles underneath. The Fovea goggle has a spherical shape that ensures maximum vertical and peripheral vision. The double lens from Zeiss is made of optical grade PC/CP and provides superior optical performance; the soft-coated PU frame conforms to the athlete’s face and maintains its flexibility even in cold temperatures. “I could not be more stoked to be working with POC. It is awesome aligning with a company that consults so closely with its athletes to make the best products possible,” states Aaron Blunck. “The Auric helmet is something totally new. When I saw the finished product, my first thought was, ‘whoa, there is nothing like this out there.’ I’ve been testing the helmet and goggles, and have gotten a lot of super positive feedback on the mountain.” Blunck finished the 2013-14 season ranked second in the halfpipe standings on the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Tour. His experience at freeskiing’s top level will provide key insights for POC’s product development team. “We discovered Aaron through our grassroots program three years ago and we’ve been thrilled to see his development as a professional, on and off the snow,” states POC North America director of marketing and promotions Willie Ford. “Aaron put his talent on display in 2014, with seventh at the Sochi Olympic Games and podium appearances across the AFP, U.S. Grand Prix and Dew Tour series. With a World Cup victory under his belt at just 18 years old, Aaron’s future is incredibly bright and we’re fully committed to supporting him as he prepares for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.” Blunck debuted the new helmet and goggle at X Games in Aspen, where he rode to 13th in the Men’s Ski Superpipe competition. The Auric helmet will be presented at SIA in Denver (January 29 to February 1) and ISPO in Munich (February 5-8) as part of POC’s 2015/2016 snow product line, available to consumers during the fall of 2015.
