POC Alpine Team Athletes and the WC season

We are looking forward to a new season together with our amazing athletes! We are looking forward to another season together with Julia Mancuso, Bode Miller, Patrik Järbyn, Steven Nyman, Travis Ganong, Chemmy Alcott and Marco Sullivan. We are also happy to announce that the Swedish National Alpine team has chosen POC as their sole supplier of helmets, goggles and body armor for the three coming seasons - at least. So, apart from Mattias Hargin, Maria Pietilä Holmner and André Myhrer whom we have been happy to have on our team for the past two seasons, we will now collaborate with the whole team. "It feels great for us to cooperate with a strong Swedish brand like POC, who always has safety as the main priority. We know that riders who have used POC helmets previously are very satisfied and we are pleased that we now have a sponsor agreement that includes all our athletes. It is also a big opportunity for us to be able to support POC with the development with safety equipment in alpine skiing" says Niklas Carlsson, Alpine Director, Swedish Ski Association. "It´s a true honor being able to work with the group as a whole and together with these athletes we will definitely improve and speed up our R&D pace. As the collaboration involves everyone, both women and men and all disciplines, we will be able to rationalize and improve product testing and evaluation at a much higher tempo. Strategically, this is one of the most important assets, in our future development in protection for ski racers." Says Stefan Ytterborn, CEO and Founder, POC. Last season was great, here´s a short wrap-up: -Julia Mancuso Did an amazing re-entry, starting from the Olympics the year before, ending at 3rd over all in in both WC DH and SG, as well as a sparkling SG Silver at he Worlds in Garmisch. Rumors says she is faster than ever! -Maria Pietilä Holmner Established herself at the top with 2 WC gold medals as well as many podiums and crowned the year with a Bronze in Slalom at the World´s in Garmisch. -André Myhrer Has had his fair share of getting really close to the podium in his career. Finally, last season, André showed up on the podium three times! Lets hope this is a trend! -Mattias Hargin The king of second runs! Mattias can go from a really lousy first run to a brilliant second run and end up on the podium. This is what makes ski racing so exciting and we love the show! Last season, Mattias´s strong mentality earned him two World Cup bronze medals. -Axel Bäck Our home boy from Saltsjöbaden is now a World Cup medal holder - a true slalom phenomenon. We are excited to see what Axel is capable of this coming season! -Bode Miller Bode earned 3 well deserved World Cup medals last season. What does he have in hold for us this winter? -Jon Olsson The transition from being an X-Games Slope Style favorite to racing GS in the World Cup is amazing and Jon is getting closer and closer to his goal of representing Sweden in the 2014 Sochi Olympics. The most talented skier out there? Steven Nyman, Marco Sullivan, Travis Ganong and Chemmy Alcott Our US team athletes, Steven, Marco and Travis are all ready to start the season in full speed and we´re hoping to see Chemmy back on her skis this spring after her gnarly crash last season, until then we´ll be cheering her on as she is getting her strength back. Knowing Chemmy, she´ll be back ahead of schedule! -Beyond that there were a bunch of others athletes that did great. "One of the happiest moments was when I got to meet the Chinese Women's Team at the starting gate, at the Worlds in Garmisch, all wearing POC. I had no idea but it was a special and flattering feeling" Says Stefan Ytterborn, CEO and Founder, POC. See you in Sölden.
