POC is proud to offer the world's first bike helmet managing rotational violence!
The Cortex Downhill MIPS helmet, introduced at the bike fair, during fall, with great attention, having received major international design awards, is now available in stores.
"The aspect of rotational violence has so far been neglected! Rotational violence can cause major damage to the brain. The load transmitted to the brain is severe and is especially crucial to prevent at high speeds and gnarly terrain, like in downhill mountain biking or when jumping big. Thanks to our collaboration with MIPS, a Swedish entity having researched these aspects for 15 years, POC is proud to launch the world's first bike helmet using the MIPS technology." says Stefan Ytterborn, CEO and founder of POC.
Cortex DH MIPS has a lightweight advanced carbon shell wrapped around our patent pending aramid reinforced in-mold liner. The liner has a thin shell of polycarbonate covering the multi-impact Super EPP core. The double overlapping shell design, our patented VDSAP, allows a fully ventilat
ed construction with maximum comfort without sacrificing penetration resistance or impact energy management. The helmet is equipped with the patented MIPS system to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in case of an oblique impact.
